2008 Toyota Tacoma Exterior Overview
Since its entry into the market more than a decade ago, the Toyota Tacoma is still a favorite name in the compact-pickup segment. Tacoma brings with it a number of advantages, like a variety of body styles to choose from, useful off-road capabilities, solid built construction and a reputation for reliability and durability. For 2008, there are three cab styles – regular, extended-cab and crew-cab. All the thirteen models come with cargo beds in short and long lengths. There are not many changes in the exterior body of the Tacoma line-up. It is basically a carryover of the previous year models. All the Tacoma models come with bed rails and adjustable tie-down cleats. The range of the bed is between 6 to 8 feet in length. Cargo beds have a 115-volt power outlet and accessory storage boxes.
Engine
Like the previous year line-up, the base engine for the 2008 Tacoma is a 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 159 horsepower and 180 pounds-feet of torque. There is also a 4.0-liter, 236 horsepower V-6 engine that delivers 266 pounds-feet of torque. The latter engine configuration is standard on double cab models and the X-runner, and available as an option on the access cab Pre-runner. The 5-speed manual transmission is standard for models with smaller engines, while 6-speed automatic transmission is standard for the powerful engine. The Toyota Tacoma engines have a towing capacity of 3500 pounds, but the double cab can manage 6500 pounds with an enhanced tow package. All the thirteen models are powerful machines that give a confident ride and smooth handling, no matter how harsh the conditions of the road. In terms of handling, no compact truck can beat the Tacoma models. The Pre-Runner models provide the look and suspension of the four-wheel-drive trucks. It comes with four-wheel-drive running gear.
Body Colors
The beauty of the exterior body of the latest Tacoma Trucks are highlighted with beautiful body colors, like Super White, Speedway Blue Metallic, Silver Streak Mica, Radiant Red, Indigo Ink Pearl, Impulse Red Pearl, Desert Sand Mica and Black Sand Pearl.
The Toyota Tacoma is at the forefront of this trend and it will not be wrong to call it a "midsize" pickup. There will be no complaining for the Toyota Tacoma performance.
